These standards govern everything Livo News publishes. They apply to every journalist, contributor and editor, and readers are entitled to hold us to them.
Accuracy and verification
We report only what we can verify. Facts are confirmed with primary sources wherever possible, and claims we cannot independently confirm are attributed and described as such. Images, video and data are checked by our verification team before publication.
Sources
- We identify sources by name whenever possible.
- Anonymity is granted only when a source faces a genuine risk and the information cannot be obtained another way. A senior editor must approve every anonymous source, and we explain to readers why anonymity was granted.
- We do not pay sources for information.
- We protect the identity of confidential sources.
Independence and conflicts of interest
Journalists may not report on people or organisations with which they have a financial, family or close personal relationship. Gifts, free travel and hospitality offered in connection with our work are declined or declined and disclosed. Editorial decisions are never influenced by advertisers, sponsors or owners.
Fairness and right of reply
People and organisations facing serious allegations are given a reasonable opportunity to respond before publication, and their response is reported fairly.
Opinion and analysis
Opinion pieces are clearly labelled and published in the Opinion section. They represent the views of the writer, not of Livo News. Analysis pieces interpret the news but are held to the same standards of accuracy as news reporting.
Corrections and updates
When we make a mistake we correct it promptly and transparently. Significant corrections are noted at the end of the article with a description of what was changed and when. Minor fixes to spelling or style that do not change meaning may be made without a note. Articles that are substantially updated as a story develops are marked “Updated” with the time of the latest change.
To request a correction, email corrections@example.com.
Sponsored content and advertising
Content paid for by a third party is labelled “Sponsored” or “Paid partnership” and is produced by a team separate from the newsroom. Our journalists do not write sponsored content.
Use of artificial intelligence
We may use AI tools to assist with tasks such as transcription, translation or data analysis. Every piece of journalism we publish is written, checked and approved by people, and a journalist is accountable for it. We do not publish AI-generated images as depictions of real events.
Privacy and harm
We respect privacy and intrude only where there is a clear public interest. We take particular care when reporting on children, victims of crime, suicide and people in vulnerable situations, and follow recognised guidelines for reporting on these subjects.
Complaints
If you believe we have breached these standards, contact the newsroom. We aim to respond within five working days. [If your publication is a member of a press regulator or council, name it here and explain how readers can escalate complaints.]
