Marathon to cap entries and add a lottery for places

The Northbridge Marathon will limit entries to 30,000 runners from next year and allocate places by lottery.

Last year more than 80,000 people applied. Charity places will be protected.

Organisers said the change was about safety on the narrow riverside stretch of the course.
